03.21.2012 Herpetologists in action
Herpetologists Zacharie Chifundera, Jos Kielgast, and Zoltan Nagy, who participated in the 2010 ‘Boyekoli Ebale Congo’ expedition, have spent the last few months conducting field research in the Upemba and Kundelungu National Parks.
They studied reptiles and amphibians, while their fellow scientist K.D. Dijkstra focused on dragonflies.
Thanks to a GTI grant, Zacharie will work in Mars 2012 with the JEMU (IRScNB) lab alongside Zoltan Nagy to carry out molecular analyses. Starting in April 2012, Zacharie will continue collecting specimens in Ituri district, thanks to an ARCOS7/MacArthur Foundation grant.
