The Congo basin is home to the world's second largest tropical rainforest. Many national organisations, local authorities, research institutes, and NGOs are involved in the study, protection, conservation, and sustainable use of its unique biodiversity. They hope to achieve this common goal by working in different areas such as basic or applied research, nature conservation, capacity building, or strategic support for local stakeholders.
The Congo Biodiversity Initiative (CBI) is an open knowledge platform that provides a venue to these organisations, giving them an easy-to-use, fast, and efficient tool for discussing and streamlining their activities. The CBI website gives an overview of projects and initiatives targeting Congo basin diversity. The CBI actively works to stimulate new collaborations and synergies. Regular newsletters are sent to the growing CBI community with updates and news of relevant activities.
